Naderi was nominated by UNDP for its N-Peace Award in 2012 and won the award on behalf of Afghanistan through an electronic voting system. She was the only female representative from Afghanistan who participated in three consecutive unofficial Chantilly Conferences in Paris (2010-2012). In 2015 she participated in an informal Track II with the Taliban in Norway.
Naderi is a former MP and represented Kabul from 2010 to Jun 2015 in the Afghan Parliament. At university, she concentrated on women’s role within Afghan power, where she became convinced that the absence of Afghan women in the Supreme Court is the real challenge for the symbolic presence of women in Afghan politics. Therefore, in her parliamentary campaign, Naderi promised to fight for women’s participation in the Supreme Court. Rates of unemployment in Afghanistan are highest among women and young people. These two groups make up by far the majority of the population, but like young people and women everywhere, they often struggle to have a voice in the political system that could address their plight.
Farkhunda Zahra Naderi has been a member of Afghanistan’s lower house of parliament since 2010, when she was in her late twenties. Now 33 years old, Ms. Naderi sees increasing opportunities for young people and women to participate in politics and shape the future of their country as democracy takes hold. While traditional approaches to politics in the country still erect barriers to participation, today “you can come by means of your own power,” she said in an interview in New York on September 15, “because democracy opens the door for you.”

Farkhunda Zahra Naderi (Dari: فرخنده زهرا نادری) is an Afghan politician and women's right activist. She has been a member of Afghanistan's High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) chaired by Abdullah Abdullah. Previously, she served as a senior advisor to president Ashraf Ghani in United Nations Affairs.[1] Before that she served as a member of Parliament (Wolesi Jirag/lower house of Afghan Parliament) from 2010–2015.[2][3]
Farkhunda Zahra Naderi is a recipient of the 2012 NPeace Award,[4] and a YGL graduate.
Early life and education
Naderi was born on 19 April 1981 in Kabul.[5] She is the daughter of Sayed Mansoor Naderi, Incumbent Sayed of Kayan (leader of Ismaili Hazaras Community) [6] in Afghanistan.[7]
