Bradley Joseph Davis (born November 8, 1981) is an American former professional soccer player who played as a midfielder.

Career

Youth and College

Davis attended high school at Chaminade College Preparatory School in Missouri. When he was 16, he had the chance to move to The Netherlands and join the PSV Eindhoven academy, but Davis opted to stay at home.[2] He joined Saint Louis University (SLU) in 2000, where he played for two seasons before leaving college soccer for the professional ranks. While at SLU, Davis was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Year his first year, and a second team NSCAA All-American as a sophomore.[3]

Davis was selected third overall in the 2002 MLS SuperDraft by the MetroStars. U.S. international midfielder Brad Davis joined Sporting KC in January 2016 for his final MLS season. He tallied 60 goals and 132 assists (including postseason) during a 15-year MLS career highlighted by 2006 and 2007 MLS Cup championships, 2011 MLS Best XI honors and six MLS All-Star selections. His 123 assists in the regular season are third most in MLS history, while his 392 regular season appearances rank second all-time among field players. He announced his retirement on Oct. 23, 2016.

A native of St. Charles, Missouri, Davis ended his 10-year stay in Houston as the Dynamo’s all-time leader in regular season games played (271), starts (252) and assists (104). In addition to winning two MLS Cups, Davis led Houston to seven playoff trips between 2006-2015, including four MLS Cup appearances in 2006, 2007, 2011 and 2012. He also featured in four editions of the CONCACAF Champions League (2008-10, 2012-14) and the 2010 North American SuperLiga.

Davis is an MLS legend who is third in league history in two impressive categories, with 122 career regular-season assists, and 368 games played by a field player. He is a six time MLS All-Star and a two time MLS Cup Champion. He was the runner-up in the 2011 MLS MVP voting and is the Houston Dynamo all-time leader in appearances, starts and assists. Davis was well loved in the Houston area, especially for his charitable work. Originally selected by the MetroStars with the third overall pick in the 2002 MLS SuperDraft, Davis will hope to maintain his high level in a new setting.

INTERNATIONAL: Davis has 17 caps for the United States Men's National team, and was a member of the 2014 World Cup squad. He started one game, against Germany in the group stage, in Brazil.
