Pietro Perugino, born Pietro Vannucci, was a painter of the Umbrian School, whose style found an influence in classic expression of the High Renaissance. He was apprenticed at the young age of nine, to possibly Benedetto Bonfigli (1420 – 1496). He then moved to Arezzo and then on to Florence, where he assisted Andrea del Verrocchio (1435 – 1488), alongside a young Leonardo da Vinci (1452 – 1519). Before joining the Guild of Saint Luke the 1472, he also learned the application of perspective in painting from Piero della Francesca (1412 – 1492). It was here in Florence that Perugino was also one of the first practitioners of painting in Oil.

He returned to his native, Perugia (for which he is named) briefly, and then moved to Rome around 1480. Marta Vannucci (10 May 1921 – São Paulo, 15 January 2021) was a Brazilian biologist and professor whose main research in biological oceanography was focused on mangroves and plankton.[1][2] Marta was the first woman to become a full member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and one of the precursors of oceanography in Brazil.[3][4]

Early life

Marta was born in Florence, Italy and moved to Brazil with her family when she was still a child in 1927. Her father was a medical doctor and surgeon and a Full Professor at the University of Pádua and the University of Florence. The Vannucci family was a rich and traditional family who left Italy after the fascism ascension. In Brazil, her father worked as a surgeon at the Hospital Matarazzo [pt]. Ronald Vannucci Jr. (born February 15, 1976) is an American musician, best known for being the drummer for the rock band the Killers. He is also involved in a side project called Big Talk and became the drummer of the Rentals in 2018.

Early life

Vannucci was born in Las Vegas to an American couple with Italian, French, and German ancestry. He began drumming at the age of six.[1] He was a part of his junior high school's jazz ensemble and later attended both Clark and Western High Schools. Vannucci played in various local bands. His first band was Purple Dirt.[2]

Vannucci drummed for several local bands, including ska-punk group Attaboy Skip, who enjoyed regional success in the mid-1990s and featured Branden Campbell (of Neon Trees);[3] Free Food, a cover band who played at prisons and homeless shelters in the Las Vegas area; and Expert On October, a band that also included Ted Sablay and Taylor Milne (of Big Talk).[2]
