The story of P-Square began in St. Mulumba secondary school, a small Catholic school in Jos, Nigeria. Identical twins Peter and Paul joined their school music and drama club where they began singing, dancing, and mimicking songs by MC Hammer, Bobby Brown and Michael Jackson.

They later formed a cappella quartet called “MMMPP” (M Clef a.k.a. Itemoh, Michael, Melvin, Peter and Paul). Drawing inspiration from their music idol Michael Jackson, they began break dancing, formed the group called “Smooth Criminals” in 1997. P-square lose father after knee surgery

Paul and Peter Okoye (popularly known as P-square) have lost their father, sources close to the duo, have said.

The sensational artistes and their brother, Jude Okoye, are yet to confirm the incident, but sources close to the family said the father of six died after a knee surgery, adding that the artistes were at their father’s residence in Magodo, Lagos.

According to reports, Pa Okoye had a successful knee surgery and was set to kick start physiotherapy recuperation practices before he fell down and died on Monday, November 24.

This comes two years after the death of Josephine Okoye, mother of the artistes, who had always made efforts to keep the duo together before she departed in July 2012, five hours after a heart surgery in an Indian hospital.

In 2010, before the 33-year-old stars moved to their Lekki mansion, their father visited them for the first time in 20 years in Lagos to felicitate with them in their new mansion at the Omole, Ogba area.
