John Charles LeCompt (born March 10, 1973) is an American guitarist. He has played in multiple bands including Machina, Kill System and We Are the Fallen, and was a tour guitarist for the rock band Evanescence from 2003 to 2007.

Career

LeCompt joined the band Kill System in 2002, with drummer Rocky Gray. In 2003, he joined Evanescence as a touring guitarist alongside Gray, playing with the band until 2007.[1] In 2004, he joined the band Mourningside, which also featured Gray. The following year, LeCompt joined singer and guitarist Phil Taylor's band Future Leaders of the World, alongside Gray, guitarist Jack Wiese, and bassist Thad Ables.[2] LeCompt also performed with Gray in the band Soul Embraced.[3] In 2009, LeCompt and Gray joined former Evanescene guitarist Ben Moody's band

His first commercial effort was in a band he put together called Mindrage. He pulled double-duty as lead vocalist and lead guitarist. In June of 1998, they recorded the album Sown In Weakness, Raised In Power.

Some time later, John joined forces with the guitarist for Living Sacrafice, Rocky Gray, and together created a band called Kill System. The Kill System project has still had no official distribution deal, but the time may come when John & Rocky still move forward with it. Kill System is much more melodic than John's other heavy metal efforts which make this a big fan favorite.

LeCompt joined Rocky one more time with the band he played lead guitar for called Soul Embraced. LeCompt is the featured vocalist on the song "Seems Like Forever" on the 2003 album Immune.

After Wind-Up Records signed Evanescence, they turned to some old friends from Little Rock to fill out the spots in the band for when they began to tour. LeCompt joined as the second guitarist and Rocky joined as the drummer. On Ev's major label debut Fallen, LeCompt even h

John LeCompt (born March 10, 1973 in Little Rock, Arkansas as John Charles LeCompt) was the tour rhythm guitarist for Evanescence from 2003 to 2007. After Fallen was completed, he was hired as a tour player to perform rhythm guitar on the Fallen tour, along with the other tour players Rocky (on drums) and Will (on bass).[1][2] None of the tour players were part of the making of Fallen. He and Rocky are friends of Ben Moody from Little Rock and were hired by Ben for the tour. In a 2003 interview, Ben said only Rocky could play on the next Evanescence album and John and Will weren't needed on the album.[3]

John played live on some Evanescence shows before Fallen's release. In some live shows, he performed Paul McCoy’s vocal from Bring Me to Life. He was given a co-write credit on the cover song "Forever You", the Fallen song "Taking Over Me",[4] and The Open Door song "All That I'm Living For", and an "additional programming" credit on "Call Me When You're Sober" and "All That I'm Living For".[5]
