Singer Salma Agha was born in Karachi, Pakistani, where she and her sister, Sabina Agha, spent most of their childhood. Her father, Liaqat Gul Tajik, was a rugs tradesman. He got the name Agha (businessman of repute) from Iran, where he used to sell antiques and precious stones.

Her mother, Nasreen Agha, was the daughter of a reputable singer and actor, and she says she must have gotten her interests from them. She moved with her family to London when she was nine, and she started her singing and acting career there.
