Antonio Espino 'Clavillazo'

José Antonio Hipólito Espino Mora, Better Known as Clavillazo He was a Mexican comedian and actor, born on August 13, 1910, in Puebla, Mexico. Second of all Children, his parents installed a butcher shop in Teziutlán, which in a few years became a success, where the young José worked since he was 10 years old. Barely 20 years old, he experienced his first tragedy, when his sister Bertha, his confidant and almost his second mother, died from an epidemic of black pox.

In his adolescence, he ran away from his native city to live in Mexico City, but his father forced him to return and, looking for something that he was passionate about, he began working as an ocassal actor in the variety theater, today Victoria , from town. He had the good idea of saving to pay for his own tent, but when he managed to have enough money, he spent it on a night out and the next day he had to go back to look for work, finding a vacancy as a night watchman.

El castillo de los monstruos ('The Castle of the Monsters') is a 1958 Mexicanhorror comedy directed by Julián Soler.[1][2][3]

In the film, a mad scientist named after Sputnik uses hypnosis to convert a seamstress into his lover. The seamstress' previous love interest enters the mad scientist's castle to rescue the damsel in distress. He has to face the castle's monsters, including look-alikes of the Frankenstein Monster[4] and Count Dracula.

Plot

Mexican funnyman, El Clavillazo, is in love with a seamstress named Beatriz and also hangs out with a variety of odd characters, including a newsboy and a mental patient.

Meanwhile, a mad scientist named Dr. Sputnik and his scarred, hunchbacked assistant are busy making monsters at the nearby castle. The doctor poses as a kindly blind man in town and uses hypnosis to lure Beatriz to his castle, brainwashing her into believing that she is his own love and that she is named Galatea.
