Noa kalokuokamaile

Hawaiian composer, choreographer and recording artist, Kuana Torres Kahele was born in Hilo, Hawaii.

Kahele has over 25 years of professional experience in Hula and Hawaiian music having been groomed as a child from renowned Hilo kumu, Johnny Lum Ho and Hālau Ka Ua Kani Lehua.

He first gained notoriety on the Hawaiian and World music scene as 1/3 of the award-winning falsetto trio, Nā Palapalai. Known primarily for his original compositions for hula, Kahele completed a monumental five-year songwriting project to complete an album of new music for each of the seven Hawaiian Islands. By the end of the series, Kahele has written and recorded over 100 new songs for Hawaiʻi, an unprecedented achievement in Hawaiian music.

He gained worldwide attention in June 2015, starring as both the narrator and male lead, UKU, a lovesick volcano in Disney Pixar’s hit movie, LAVA. The theme song from LAVA debuted at #1 on the Billboard Soundtrack chart and remained there for months.  This brought a new, global audience to his music and lei making. Extended royal family of Ancient Hawaii

The House of Keōua Nui(Hale O Keōua Nui), or simply House of Keōua, is the extended royal family of Ancient Hawaii from which the reigning family of Kamehameha I and Lunalilo were descended.

Origins

A younger branch of the reigning family of Keaweʻīkekahialiʻiokamoku (from the Big Island of Hawaiʻi), the dynastic line was established by Keōua Kalanikupuapaʻikalaninui Ahilapalapa, who was the father of Kamehameha I. He was the only son of Keʻeaumoku the Great and High Chiefess Kamakaʻīmoku.[1]

Keōua's paternal lineage derives from a branch of the royal family of Hawaiʻi Island. His father, High Chief Keʻeaumoku-nui of Kohala and Kona, was the second son of Keaweʻīkekahialiʻiokamoku, King of Hawaiʻi Island and his half-sister bride, Kalanikauleleiaiwi. He was known as a pio chief of the highest rank since both his mother and father were pure royal blood. When Robert Kalanikupuaikalaninui Keoua Wilcox was born on 27 March 1886, in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, United States, his father, Robert William Kalanihiapo Wilcox, was 31 and his mother, Theresa Owana Ka'ohelelani La'anui Pratt, was 25. He married Helen Kaleipuanani Simerson Wilburton on 15 April 1916, in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 4 daughters. He died on 26 February 1934, in Kaimuki, Oahu, Hawaii, United States, at the age of 47, and was buried in Diamond Head Memorial Park, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, United States.
